Why Seattle’s Eastside is a Great Place for Dog Owners to Call Home

Living on Seattle’s Eastside has many perks, not the least of which being that it’s an incredibly pet friendly community! There are so many amazing options when it comes to outdoor places to take your pooch, from hikes down the I-90 corridor to strolls through the local downtown parks, or pit-stops at local outdoor patios. To top it off, easy access to quality healthcare means a healthy happy life for you and your furry family member. Read on to find out some of the many reasons you and your pup will love Seattle’s Eastside!

Dog Parks Galore

The Eastside is home to many dog parks to help keep Fido happy and active year-round - here are three local favorites:

  • Marymoor Park Off Leash Dog Park: There is a reason this park is often referred to as “Doggy Disneyland”. It truly is a magical place if you own a dog! Part of King County’s Marymoor Park, this 40 acre off-leash area makes it easy to spend a couple hours wandering the wide open spaces, trails, and multiple waterfront access points along the Sammamish slough.

  • Luther Burbank Park: Luther Burbank Park is a wonderful 77 acre recreation area located on the North shore of Mercer Island, which includes an off-leash area in the Northeast corner of the park. The stroll to reach the off-leash area includes gorgeous Lake Washington views, and the area itself includes water access for swimming in the Lake.

  • Beaver Lake Dog Park: Beaver Lake Park in Sammamish is an amazing park to visit as a whole family, with waterfront fishing and a small lake perfect for paddle boarding, a nice 20 minute walking loop through the woods, and more. Included as well is the good sized off-leash area. It is a fully fenced in, with a small wooded area at the back of the open free run.

Pet-Friendly Patios

After you head to the park, find refreshments at a local pet-friendly patio. Bring Fido is an amazing online resource for finding a patio in whichever local city you find yourself, but a few favorites include:

  • Post doc Brewing: Located just outside of Redmond’s Marymoor Park, Post Doc brewing has a great lineup of food trucks that frequent their brewery, and is infamous for their four-legged regulars that frequent the pub.

  • Blazing Bagels: Also located near Marymoor Park, Blazing Bagels offers delicious bagel sandwiches, pastries and baked goods, along with day-old dog bagels for your pup.

  • Black Raven Brewing: Offering both in-house food and a rotating food truck schedule, Black Raven is a perfect pet-friendly patio if you enjoy brews and pub food.

  • Starbucks: Any Seattleite knows there’s a Starbucks on nearly every corner, most of which offer outside seating and quick post-park refreshments. Don’t forget to order a free puppaccino - a tiny espresso cup with a shot of whip for your pup.

Trails for Tails

While many trails in the country have limitations on bringing pets, the Evergreen state has a very pet-friendly hiking culture. Some of the top trails to bring your dog along for a hike with great views in the local area include:
